System solutions to cover all market needs: Trunking Motorola Prime Time_CPE 2009 4/21/2017 4:48 PM System solutions to cover all market needs: Trunking Commerce Critical Operations Critical Mission Critical Statewide ASTRO 25 State Police Federal agencies PassPort Trunking Police MOTOTRBO Trunking Manufacturing Retail Utilities Fire ASTRO 25 Express K-12 education Transportation Port Security Hospitality Motorola offers many types of trunked systems to meet the needs of all customer segments. LTR trunking is primarily suited for Commerce Critical customers as it offers a cost effective single site solution with basic features PassPort is primarily suited for Operations Critical customers needing smart control features like seamless roaming and AVL, covering on site to wide area coverage. ASTRO 25 is primarily designed to fit the needs of mission critical customers who need P25 interoperability and mission critical grade systems ASTRO 25 Express is targeted towards Mission Critical and some operations critical customers. It offers a Project 25 single site system with the capability to scale up to a fully featured ASTRO 25 system MOTOTRBO Capacity Plus is primarily suited for Commerce and some Operations critical customers providing cost effective single site trunking in addition to all the benefits of the MOTOTRBO platform. MOTOTRBO Trunking will be available in 2010 and will meet the needs of Operations Critical customers with large fleets requiring smart control features likes queuing, emergency and priority. Onsite/Local MOTOTRBO Capacity Plus Construction LTR Trunking Healthcare University Prisons Mining Public Service Criticality (Speaker's Name)

MOTOTRBO Solution Strategy 2007 – MOTOTRBO Conventional 2008 – IP Site Connect 2009 – Capacity Plus 2010 – MOTOTRBO Trunking Single Site System Lower Traffic Multi-Site System Lower Traffic Single Site System Higher Traffic Multi-Site System Higher Traffic

What is Capacity Plus Single site trunking configuration coming in July of 2009! Software ONLY design : NO CONTROLLER NEEDED! Trunk up to 8 digital voice slots! Program up to16 digital data revert slots! Capacity for 800 radios PLUS larger amounts of data Greatly increase the capacity of MOTOTRBO systems!

Repeaters, Channels and Slots Like MOTOTRBO conventional, Capacity Plus supports two slots (logical voice channels) for every one repeater (RF Channel) To avoid confusion, we will use the term “slot” rather than “channel” when talking about Capacity Plus Slot 1 Slot 2 Slot 3 Slot 4

Legacy Trunking Topographies Centralized systems: Utilize control channel subscribers monitored control channel for instruction Radio must request and be granted a channel Control channel uses up one of your systems channels Decentralized: No dedicated control channel Intelligence is in the radio; radios scan for open channels Increase in access time due to channel search Capacity Plus has the advantages of both system types! - Quick access without a dedicated control slots! - Use of all slots without having to scan!

Rest Slot: The key to Capacity Plus Acts as a “dynamic home slot” Can be any slot on the system Frequently changes during system use Is only the home for inactive or idle radios Users NOT in a call always sit on the most current rest slot

Rest Slot: How it works TG A TG B TG C TG B TG C TG C TG A TG A TG B TG C Slot 1 Slot 2 Slot 3 Slot 4 Slot 5 Slot 6 IP Switch Slot 7 Slot 8 Process is repeated over and over ensuring optimal performance!

To take it a step further…Repeater All new voice calls always start on the Rest Slot When a call starts, the rest slot: Selects an idle slot to be the new Rest Slot Informs all idle subscribers to move to it Converts itself to a traffic slot Begins repeating audio to radios When a call ends on the slot: The repeater informs the radios of the new rest slot or channels of interest The radios then move to those new slot

Interference or Shared Channel Friendly TG A TG B TG C TG B TG C Slot 1 Slot 2 Slot 3 Slot 4 TG C TG A TG A TG B TG C IP Switch Slot 5 Slot 6 Slot 7 Slot 8

Rest Slot Benefits No control slot required Allows system to be “shared channel friendly” since it can still operate with interference Easier to satisfy the FCC frequency coordination requirements since protected channels aren’t required No control slot required No wasted channel capacity = LOWER SYSTEM COSTS! The “request and grant” control mechanism is removed from the equation, allowing for quicker system access time

System Loading (w/ high voice only) Using 4 repeaters, Capacity Plus has: 3X more capacity than LTR 5X more capacity than Kenwood NexEdge Trunking Number of Slots

Capacity Plus Features PTT ID Call Alert Individual Call Voice Privacy IP Site Connect and Conventional systems can still be programmed into separate zones Emergency (w/ TG revert) Radio Check Radio Inhibit Talkgroup Scan

New Feature : System Wide Call In Capacity Plus an All Call becomes a System Wide Call: Transmission is sent to all the radios including idle and busy radios Idle radios join call right away Busy radios receiving other calls join quickly (within about 1 second) Busy radios transmitting on other calls will join after their call ends (if the All Call is still active)

Data Capabilities Capacity plus supports data capabilities: GPS Text Messaging Data capabilities have been enhanced to allow larger fleets to be deployed May require new/updated versions of data applications to take advantage of all of these enhancements Data can be sent on the voice system, or offloaded onto data revert slots Telemetry Other Applications

Data Revert: What is it? Off load application data on NON VOICE slots Unit-to-unit data is still sent on voice system Up to 16 data revert slots available for application data Subscribers will search for revert slots Search list created in the radio Radio will find and move to an open data slot After transmitting data, radio returns to rest slot Greatly increases channel efficiency Voice calls do not disrupt data More data can be offloaded on system Example: Faster GPS update periods

Data System: Mobile Control Stations Trunked Control Stations These stations move with the rest slot and send data to your radio fleet Data Revert Control Stations Up to 16 stations can be utilized to receive data from your radio fleet

GPS Revert Loading Table A single repeater w/ 5 minute updates can accommodate 200 subscribers Repeater 1 Repeater 2 Repeater 3 Repeater 4 Every Revert Repeater added greatly increases the amount of supportable subscribers

Repeater Diagnostics and Controls Motorola provides a software application that allows a system administrator the ability to monitor and control repeaters within the system (analog or digital) The following features are available: Repeater Diagnostics Read Enabled/Disabled Status Read Analog/Digital Status Read Wide or Local Area Status Read Transmit Power Status Read Available Channels Read Inbound RSSI Read IPv4 Address and UDP Port Repeater Control Change Enabled or Disabled Status Change Channels Change Transmit Power Level Reset Repeater Knockdown Repeater Repeater Alarm Reporting Detect and Report Receiver Lock Detect Failure Detect and Report Transmitter Lock Detect Failure Detect and Report Overheating Detect and Report AC Power Supply Failure Detect and Report Main Fan Failure Works with IP Site Connect and Capacity Plus!

Genesis System Management Solution GW3-TRBO™ Track slot, group, and alias activity Create system activity and billing reports Control user and group system access Coming soon…. Capacity Plus and IP Site Connect ethernet interface www.genesisworld.com/gw3/trbo

Fault Tolerance: What if… …A repeater fails: Receive an indication on RDAC System remains operational Will operate with less capacity IP Switch X

Fault Tolerance: What if… …My switch fails? Receive an indication on RDAC They will continue to “trunk” but only on the repeater that they were on at the time of failure. All repeaters revert to a “2 slot trunked” configuration Radio distribution will impact system performance TG A TG B TG C TG D TG E Slot 1 Slot 2 Slot 3 Slot 4 IP Switch

Capacity Plus = Versatility in design! VOICE Slots X8 SUBS X800 DATA Slots X16 CONTROL STATIONS X16 SubA SubB SubC RDAC GPS TEXT ECT. Medium Configuration: 4 Voice Repeaters, 2 Revert Repeaters, 1 Switch, Data application Simplest Configuration: 1 Voice Repeater CPE Configuration: 2 Voice Repeaters, 1 Switch Fully Loaded: Add up to 16 data revert slots plus Applications to maximize system capacity

Hardware Requirements MOTOTRBO repeaters Shipped or upgraded with 1.5 release firmware Require capacity plus feature to be enabled MOTOTRBO subscribers Switch Validated: HP Procurve 2510-24 Note: Radios not upgraded to the latest firmware will not be able to operate on a Capacity Plus System

How do I get Capacity Plus? All current versions of MOTOTRBO are upgradable to Capacity Plus! Like previous features, Capacity Plus is a software upgrade only There WILL NOT be a charge to enable subscribers There WILL be a $1,000 (US Reseller) charge to enable the Capacity Plus feature on each MOTOTRBO repeater Includes new and legacy repeaters
