Professional Development School a partnership between Greenfield Union School District and California State University, Bakersfield

Professional Development School  A unique path to a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.  A DAYTIME program: most (but not all) classes are held during the children’s school day.  September – June  You’ll work harder, you’ll end up more prepared.

What’s so special about PDS?

Extra Support  PDS Coordinator  Advisor  Coordinates all Field Experiences  Handles registration for classes  Liason between all faculty in program  Liason between CSUB and GUSD  Provides individual guidance through the maze of credential requirements

More Time in Classrooms  First Week of School  Specific Observations of experienced teachers conducting Guided Reading and Math lessons  Interactive Demonstration Lessons  Guided/Supervised practice working with individual students, before student teaching begins

The Cohort  A unique support system  Fosters camaraderie  Enhances student productivity  Build lasting professional and personal relationships

All Classes in Greenfield Schools  No parking fees & hassles!  Get to know the teachers & principals  Coursework and fieldwork integrated

Access to District Resources  State of the art TEC Center  Computers, computer labs  District Inservice Training

Opportunities to Substitute  PDS students are flagged as top priority substitutes  Fall quarter Mondays & Fridays  Weeks before & after Fall Quarter

How does PDS relate to the CSUB Traditional Program?  Same coursework requirements  “Enrichment” opportunities  Same Faculty – a combination of:  Fulltime CSUB professors  Adjunct faculty who are GUSD classroom teachers

How much does it cost?

Visit with PDS students  Here’s what some of our previous students have to say about the program…

Is the PDS for me?  Are you ready to begin your credential work in September?  Do you want an extremely intense program that will give you extra confidence in your teaching abilities?  Are you available for daytime classes?

So how do I get started?  Apply to the CSUB Credential program  Check the PDS box  Call or for an interview
