Our French pen pals live in the city of Annecy, France. What do you know about this city? What kind of restaurants are there? Are there movie theaters? What kinds of religions are practiced there? Where do you go if you want to go to a concert? Or go for a walk? Or shop? What kind of schools do they have? Wait…where the heck even is this place?

If you have questions like these about their city…then I’m sure that they have the same about yours!! We are going to help them out by working with our partners to create a brochure (en français!) with 5 sentences in each section about Pitman.

The following sections will need to be covered within your brochure… Location/Geography Religion Education Dining Culture Outdoor Recreation Decide with your partner which three sections each of you will be responsible for.

La Situation et la Géographie (Location and Geography) Where is Pitman located How far is it from major US cities (i.e. NY, Phildelphie, Washington, Baltimore) Is it close to mountains? The beach? How many people live in Pitman?

Les Écoles (Schools) How many schools are there?  Elementary?  Middle?  High School? How many students?

La Réligion (Religion) How many churches, synagogues, temples, or mosques are there in Pitman? What kind of religions are practiced?

Les Restaurants (Dining) Names and types of restaurants Where they are located

La Culture (Culture) Are there any theaters, museums, movie theaters, or libraries in Pitman or nearby?

Récreation à l’exterieur (Outdoor Recreation) Are there any parks? Any town sports groups?

Autre (Other) This part is extra credit. Discuss with your partner if there is anything else you would like to include in your brochure. (one idea: history of Pitman) Each of you will earn the extra credit, even if there is only 1 additional section.
