PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT FOR “ANALYTICS FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS” COURSE

BUILDING A RISK MODEL/PROTOTYPE – COMPLEX PROJECT CourseAnalytics for Healthcare Professionals DegreeMasters Item Features Administration: Length of Time: Method of Scoring : Opportunity for Student Collaboration: Opportunity for Lecturer Feedback: Complex Project 5 weeks Analytic Rubic Daily (Work in Teams) Weekly

PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT OUTLINE ▪ To: Analytics for Healthcare Master Students ▪ From: Carol Hargreaves Date: October 2014 ▪ Re: Call for Innovative Health Risk Models and Prototypes As the Lecturer for Analytics for Healthcare, I would like each team to select a health condition and to build algorithmic models that will help to prevent or reduce the prevalence of your choice of health condition. Several patients are looking for patient care and are interested in understanding their risk and preventing themselves from getting particular diseases. ▪ Now, I am asking for your help to make this possible! Both we at ISS and our clients are interested in seeing what innovative and groundbreaking ideas your team will come up with in the area of analytics for healthcare. We are asking you to choose from one of the listed healthcare condition on the next page. The goal of your team will be to create a preventative model/device that will minimize or reduce health risks. As part of this work, your team will need to design and construct a model (prototype) for the client. You will need to collect real data, analyse, evaluate and validate your models. If possible, produce a prototype that works. ▪ You will need to make changes to improve the original model and prototype. You will also need to present your results in a 20 minute presentation. This presentation should outline, the objective of your project, the data sources that will be used, the analytical goals, techniques and tools that will be used, the outputs that will be tracked, the outcomes of the project and the impact the results will have on healthcare. Bonus marks will be given for innovative ideas that are incorporated into your project. ▪ A complete detailed report is also required. A detailed description of your project objective, outlining current methods used, a literature survey report, how your project is different from what has been previously done, methodology used, your analytical outputs and results, any limitations of your study, discussion on the impact of innovative ideas and your project results.

PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT TOPICS ▪ Cholesterol Risk Reducing Model/Prototype ▪ Diabetes Risk Reducing Model/Prototype ▪ Alzheimer’s Risk Reducing Model/Prototype ▪ Heart Disease Reducing Risk Model/Prototype ▪ Rheumatoid Arthritis Risk Reducing Mode/ Prototype
