Reflections By Induction Contract Educators

“I reflect on each day about the things I could have done better. I have come to accept that my trial and errors in the classroom are part of the challenges of a first year teacher.”

“Students know what is expected of them as soon as they walk into my room.”

“My rules and procedures are posted in my room, and were introduced to each class on their first day. I have reviewed and referred to my rules and procedures many times throughout the year, and as needed.”

“Early on, I was quick to learn that there is a huge difference in discipline and procedures.”

“Procedures help a classroom run smoothly. It makes the learning environment less stressful and full of enjoyment. Procedures keep everything functioning in an organized manner.”

Students who have been told, or treated as if, they are not capable of achieving academic success come into the classroom with an attitude of apathy. I have found that my job often begins with convincing the student that he/she can learn and master the skills necessary to graduate from high school.”
