R.I.S.E. – opportunities to progress * Recovery training: people manage their condition, develop life skills, develop their goals, plan. * Self-help sustains recovery, strengthens social network, continued group support from trainers. * Voluntary opportunities: a way of ‘giving back’ and moving on. Give people “breaks”. * Job-skills training, job-related skills: natural progress, IPS model, soft skills & hard skills. Towards job market. Perkins Review (2009). * Individual advice: bespoke service for greater progress, person-centred, for recovery and resolution of barriers towards job market.

The journey of recovery * A deeply personal, unique process of changing one’s attitudes, values, feelings, goals and/or roles … a way of living a satisfying, hopeful and contributing life even with the limitations caused by the illness..the development of new meaning and purpose in one’s life as one grows beyond the catastrophic effects of mental illness (Anthony, 1993). * In-Sight: a growth through the breakdown and a growing mastering of illness management with resultant reduction of symptoms ie. full recovery. => Outcome: progression of recovery journey & need for ‘breaks’ ie opportunities & life chances to develop further.
