Apologies for the lateness of this newsletter! Anyway, better late than never! January 27 th Chinese New Year Masks February 3 rd Getting to Know You Workshop 10 th Valentine’s Biscuits 17 th CLOSED – HALF TERM 24 th Healthy Eating Workshop March 2 nd Anti-Social Behaviour Workshop 9 th Trip to Planet Ice 16 th Mother’s Day Craft 23 rd Sport Relief & Smoking Workshop 30 th Chocolate Easter Egg Nests 6 th CLOSED – EASTER HOLIDAYS 13 th CLOSED – EASTER HOLIDAYS Due to popular demand, we will be undertaking a trip to the Sub-Zero Party Night held between 7.30 pm and 10 pm at Planet Ice in Basingstoke on Friday 9 th March. Consent forms will be issued nearer to the time of the trip. The Base will be open that evening for those not going ice skating. In the Summer term, we are planning a PGL multi-activity residential trip to Marchants Hill near Hindhead in Surrey from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th April An information letter with consent forms is attached. Places are limited so please ensure your forms and deposit are returned on time to avoid disappointment. On 23 rd March we will be holding a series of fun, mini sports challenges to raise money for Sport Relief. We will also be asking all of the children to sign up for the Sport Relief Mile event the youth centre is planning to hold at Hartletts Park straight after school on the 23rd. This term and next, we will be running a series of 30 minute Health Living Workshops. The workshops will be delivered by Sam Hexter- Andrews, Anti-Social Behaviour Officer for Hart District Council and Lee Thurbon, Accredited Community Safety Officer for Hampshire County Council. Topics covered will include healthy eating, anti-social behaviour, personal safety, internet safety, substance misuse, alcohol and smoking. In the Summer term, we will also be holding parent information evenings on internet safety and substance misuse on 10 th May and 21 st June respectively ( pm). Information letters will be issued nearer to the time. Let us know your ideas for improving the youth club. All contributions will be valued and discussed by our team leaders/ management committee.

Parent Helper Rota A parent helper form for this term is attached. If you feel you could volunteer once a term (or even more!), please return the attached sheet or send an to Lindsay Graham (Year 6 Base Team Leader) at indicating both how often you would like to help and your We will then organise the parent helper rota and let you know which night(s) we would like you to come. We also plan to remind you either by or phone the week before. All new parent helpers will be taken around by a leader on their first evening and introduced to everyone, shown where everything is and what we do and how we do it. If you have not yet helped out at The Base, we urge you to try and do so. As well as being a great way to get involved in your local community and support young people, it can also be great fun! Valuables Please do not let your child bring valuable items to youth club as we cannot be responsible for their damage or loss. Remember the youth centre is used by many people during the course of the week and items left behind may not be there the next time they come. Mobile Phones May we remind you that the use of mobile phones and personal electronic devices by members is not permitted at any time during the session. In an emergency your child will be able to use the centre’s phone and vice versa (Tel: ). Website Please note that all the latest updates about our activities/information for parents are available on our website: Halloween Party 2011 ‘Swinging Doughnuts’ Finalists of our fancy dress competition Josh on a good day!
