Forsyth County: A Place Where Things Happen By: Simone Williams West Lee Middle School

Welcome to Forsyth County! Forsyth County is an amazing county within North Carolina. The people are friendly and the towns are beautiful and prosperous. Winston-Salem (our county seat) or any other town in our area would be a great place to start or expand a business, and hopefully after viewing this presentation you will agree and bring your business here!

The Basics....  Name of county: Forsyth  County seat: Winston-Salem  Population: 338,774

Major Industries  Tobacco  Textiles  Beer  Food Products  Apparel  Batteries  Swimming pool filters and pumps

Major Employers  R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company  Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc.  Branch Banking and Trust (BB&T)  HanesBrand Inc.  Blue Rhino (the Nation’s largest propane exchange company and a division of Ferrellgas)

Education Forsyth County is well- known for its excellent education system. We have many amazing colleges and universities. They include:  Wake Forest University  Salem College  Winston-Salem State University  Forsyth Technical Community College  North Carolina School of the Arts  Piedmont Baptist College

Healthcare  Baptist Hospital  Forsyth Memorial Hospital  Reynolds Memorial Hospital

Religion and Housing Forsyth County is a mixture when it comes to religion. We are full of different people with different beliefs. Here are some statistics:  70,927 citizens are Evangelical Protestant  64,772 citizens are Mainline Protestant  786 citizens are Orthodox  13,052 citizens are Catholic  156,530 citizens are either other or unclaimed. Our county is a great place to buy a home. Our towns are beautiful, scenic, and wonderful places to raise a family. Facts about the housing market:  The median home price is $121,575  The two to five year home price gain is 4.40%

Conclusion As you can see, Forsyth County is a wonderful place. Our economy is doing very well and our county would be a great place to have a business. Many large corporations and businesses have already made the smart decision of coming to our county, and hopefully you will too!
