Massachusetts School Building Authority 5 ASHRAE 90.1 (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers) “A standard that provides minimum requirements for energy efficient designs for buildings (except low-rise residential buildings)”.  Currently IECC uses the 2007 version of ASHRAE 90.1  MA adopted 2012 IECC on July 9, 2013 which is based on the 2010 version of ASHRAE 90.1 Concurrency period will occur from July 2013 to July 2014

Massachusetts School Building Authority 6 IBC / IECC (International Building Code) / ( International Energy Conservation Code) “A model code for the establishment of minimum design and construction requirements for buildings and energy efficiency”.  8 th edition MA building code (780 CMR) is based on 2009 IBC Includes 2009 IECC  MA will not adopt 2012 IBC but; 2012 IECC (Includes 2010 ASHRAE 90.1) has been adopted by MA as of July 2013 MA may adopt IBC 2015 date TBD for 9 th edition MA building code

Massachusetts School Building Authority 7 MA State Building Code (780 CMR) “A set of regulations that specify the minimum acceptable level of safety for constructed objects such as buildings and non building structures”.  Current version of the MA State Building Code is the 8 th edition which includes the 2009 IBC / IECC Includes the Stretch Energy Code Appendix 120. aa (2009 IECC with modifications)  The 8 th edition of the MA State Building Code has adopted the 2012 IECC as of July 2013 Concurrency period will occur from July 2013 to July 2014 A new Stretch Energy Code Appendix 120. aa (IECC 2012) may be adopted on January 2014 Concurrency period will occur from January 2014 to July 2014

Massachusetts School Building Authority 8 LEED-S (USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) “A national frame work for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions”.  Current 2009 LEED-S uses 2007 ASHRAE 90.1 LEED-S Version 4 will use 2010 ASHRAE 90.1 and will be available for registration on December 2013 Concurrency period will occur from December 2013 to July 2015

Massachusetts School Building Authority 9 MA–CHPS Massachusetts - Collaborative for High Performance Schools “A green building rating program that provides information and resources to schools in order to facilitate the construction and operation of high performance institutions”.  Current 2009 MA-CHPS uses the 2009 IECC, and 2007 ASHRAE 90.1 and includes the MA Stretch Code  2014 MA-CHPS will use 2012 IECC and 2010 ASHRAE 90.1 Available for registration on June 2014 Concurrency period will occur from June 2014 to December 2014
