You can write a fraction as a decimal by dividing the numerator by the denominator. Terminating Decimal: A decimal that stops, or terminates is considered to be a terminating decimal. For example, 0.25 is a terminating decimal.

Repeating Decimal: For Example: 5.3555555555555555 = 5.35 A decimal that the same block of digits in the decimal repeats without end. For Example: 5.3555555555555555 = 5.35 0.1717171717171717 = 0.17 The line over the number represents the numbers which repeat.

Example 1: Writing a terminating decimal 1 8 1 2 11 or 2 ÷ 11 = 11 2 . . - 11 9 2 11 - 88 = 0.18 So 2 - 11 9

Example 3: Writing a Decimal as a Fraction Write 0.6 as a fraction in simplest form. ÷2 10 6 5 3 0.6 = ÷2

Example 4: When Ordering Fractions and Decimals When ordering fractions and decimals, convert all fractions to decimals and order the decimals. After the decimals are ordered correctly, change them back to fractions and keep in the same order.
