Timeline of Roadmap Development 2013 Today Feb: NESCC developed an interconnecting roadmap between research – NRC questions – Standards & Codes Apr: ASME, NESCC, and NRC refined Roadmap to reflect short and long term goals. Workshop held at EPRI (D.C.) with Industry Stakeholders to refine goals and responsibilities. Achieving a conditioned code case in short term. May: Roadmap reviewed at the ASME BPV meeting in Miami to further refine roadmap. July: Monthly meeting begins to address changes or updates to Roadmap. Inclusion of CC-808 in addition to CC-755. Today: Inform buried pipe stakeholders of process and gain feedback on their participation
Roadmap: Organization
Roadmap Management: Monthly HDPE Roadmap Tracking Meetings: Meetings In person meeting at ASME Code Weeks – 4 times/a year Teleconference format – 8 times/year Open participation meetings to update current and future rule making and R&D Efforts to resolve Issues. Advantage of Roadmap Meeting at ASME Code Week Attending by Committee Section Members and various Chairs to update a variety of HDPE Code work under way. Methodology to disseminate Roadmap Monthly distribution Will explore alternative methods
Industry Response: Not many aware of NESCC or Activities Unrealistic expectations of NESCC and DOE role. There are definite projects where HDPE could be a solution, but management at plants is hesitant. Not clear right now how industry can play a role for code/regulatory process. I have put those that contacted me onto the list of roadmap call-in attendees. Code Case may not address some of newer technologies: Cure in place pipe and slip-lining.
