PARSHAT TZAV (COMMAND) “The Sin Offering” Vayikra/Leviticus 6:1 – 8:36

Leviticus/Vayikra 6:25, 26 Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, This is the law of the sin offering: in the place where the burnt offering is slain the sin offering shall be slain before the LORD; it is most holy. The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. It shall be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the tent of meeting.

Why the Sin-Offering? Required for people who did not obey the Torah. The offering was to provide a covering for the person’s sin.

The Lamb The family would select a perfect little lamb. Treated with love and properly fed. The father would take the lamb to the Mishkan.

At the Mishkan The lamb would meet the priest at the door. The priest would look very close look at the lamb The lamb would be taken to take it to the Altar of Sacrifice.

Laying on of Hands The father pressed hard against the lamb as to put his whole weight upon the little lamb He would then confess his sins The lamb now took the sin of the person.

What Is Sin All have sinned (Romans 3:23) Sin is not obeying the Torah’s commands. Sin brings death to us. But God gives us a choice.

A Sad Time The priest would approach the lamb with a very sharp knife. The neck was cut. This lamb died for the person. It became a substitute.

The Blood The priest was to catch up the blood. The blood was sprinkled. The blood placed was brought into the Holy Place.

The Sacrifice on the Altar The parts of animal’s body were cut into pieces Salt was applied. The parts were placed on the fire that was burning on the altar.

The Result of the Sin Offering The person’s sin was atoned or covered. Getting close to God. Sacrificing at the Mishkan only had their sins covered. Now things are different because of Yeshua.

2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin- offering on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Yeshua became our sin offering.

For God so loved the world...

How many people sin? Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Sin means missing the mark Sin is anything we do or say that is against the Torah Not obeying God’s mitzvot! What is Sin?

Sin means Falling Short

For the wages of sin is Death!

Salvation = Yochanan 14:6 – Yeshua answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

...and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness....that the Messiah died for our sins according to the scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the scriptures…

Yet to all that receive him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to be called the children of God.

Say with your mouth, "Yeshua is Lord." Believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. Then you will be saved. With your heart you believe and are made right with God. With your mouth you say that Yeshua is Lord and you are saved.

Salvation = Yochanan 14:6 – Yeshua answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Heavenly Father. I know that I have done bad things. I believe that Yeshua died for me and rose again. I ask that you forgive my sins and come into my heart today so I can live forever. I confess that you are Lord of my life. I ask this in the Name of Yeshua. Amen.

I will never leave you! Yeshua will be my helper!
