WALK OUR TALK

GREEN OFFICE PLAN 10 Things we can do to “green” our office. A MANIFESTO from the Sustainability Task Force and Change Group-Philippines

Phase 1 -Doable NOW

GREEN OFFICE PLAN 10 Things we can do to “ green ” our office A MANIFESTO from the Sustainability Task Force and Change Group - Philippines TARGET IMPLEMENTATION: 28 April 2008 / Monday Activity How ToWHY? / Remarks 1 - LIGHTS OFFAll lights (except the Reception lights) will be turned-off during lunch time, specifically from 12:00noon to 1:00pm Green Note: Switching off one bulb for one hour saves up to 22,000 watts per year. 2 - RECEPTION DOORElectronic locking will be disabled during office hours. Doing this will save electricity in operating the automatic door closer. 3 - TURN-OFF MONITORComputer monitors should be turned-off after office-hours. 4 - UNPLUG PHONE CHARGERS & OTHER EQUIPMENT All chargers for cellfone, mug warmers, AVRs, digital cameras, iPods, MP3/4, others must be unplugged. Green Note: In the US, 95% of energy used by a phone charger is wasted by being left plugged-in. 5 - WATER DISPENSERWe shall discontinue the use of one (1) water dispenser at the Pantry. Please drink to the last drop.

Activity How ToWHY? / Remarks 6 - PANTRY MOTION SENSORA motion sensor will be installed at the Pantry to make sure that the lights are off when the Pantry is not in use. Danny San Gabriel has been tasked to handle this. 7 - NATURAL LIGHT USEBlinds on windows shall be rolled-up every morning. Light Sensors to be part of Long Term Plan. 8 - BATTERY COLLECTION CENTER Central disposal at HO.To ensure that disposal is done responsibly. 9 - COMPANY VEHICLE UPKEEP / TIRES All vehicles will be provided with a Tire Gauge and drivers will check daily. Forms are issued. Green Note: Check your tires – Fully inflated tires can reduce a car ’ s fuel emission by up to 5%. Drive slower & smoother. Staying within the speed limit and smoothly accelerating can save up to 25% of a vehicle ’ s typical gasoline use MEETINGS / REPORTSAt meetings, reports to be projected instead of printed. If printed, copies should be shared instead of distributed.

Other activities Tire gauge – check your tires properly inflated tires can reduce fuel emissions by up to 5% Company vehicle use – drive slower and smoother staying within the speed limit and smoothly accelerating can save up to 25% of a vehicle’s typical gasoline use Phone chargers & other equipment - unplug when not in use in the U.S., 95% of the energy used by a phone charger is wasted by being left plugged in

Phase 2 - Slightly DIFFICULT

Reduce Electricity Consumption Installation of light sensors Zoning lights Use CFLs and LEDs Ceiling lights for ambiance only Individual reading lamps in workstations Centralized “charging” areas – easier to manage / monitor Convert all desktop to flat screen monitors – low energy consumption / green-house gas emission

Waste Management / Recycling Centralized reprographics – contain gas emission / centralize waste collections / ensure use of scratch paper Buy in bulk – less waste production Use carpet tiles – rotate

Other activities Use “green” supply chain Car pool / Use company car to shuttle staff Maintain snacks supply – reduce trips to stores / reduce use of elevators & escalators

Centralized reprographics area

Use the “green” supply chain

Purchase in bulk

Install light sensor

Use individual reading light

Phase 3 Inventory activities / Start to measure
