TRAINING PRESENTATION JANUARY 2010 rev2

A new and innovative hoof care product for use in hoof baths. Hygienic hoof wash Environmental barrier Highly water soluble concentrate

NO copper sulfate NO formalin NO heavy metals

Long lasting Highly visible blue color Grooming aid Outlasts common environmental pressures

Recommended usage Use 3 times a week after milking.

T-HEXX Dragonhyde HBC is intended to be used for up to 250 cows. If a pre-bath is used, T-HEXX Dragonhyde HBC can last up to 350* cows in the main bath. How many cows can walk through a bath? *residual efficacy of Dragonhyde reaches 50%

Residual Efficacy Of Dragonhyde, % Numbers of cows walking through bath Pre-Bath Main Bath Change A Bath! Determination of the Duration of Foot Bath Efficacy, Rutgers University 2009 How many cows can walk through a bath? When used in conjunction with a pre-bath

inside length (inches) x inside width (inches) x fluid height (inches) ÷ 231 = hoof bath in gallons How to calculate hoof bath size

How to mix First add the appropriate amount of water to your hoof bath.

Tap water is recommended. Always wear gloves and eye protection when mixing. How to mix

Measure the appropriate amount of T-HEXX Dragonhyde HBC to fit your bath. Use a container that can hold up to 1 gallon of liquid. How to mix

Bath CapacityPre-Bath 50 gallons1 gallon 100 gallons2 gallons 150 gallons3 gallons 200 gallons4 gallons Initial Use (first 2 weeks) Pre-Bath:Use 2% of T-HEXX Dragonhyde HBC plus 98% water (example 1 gallon of T-HEXX Dragonhyde HBC plus 49 gallons of water). Dragonhyde easily disperses into water with little to no mixing How to mix (pre-bath)

Initial Use (first 2 weeks) Bath CapacityMain Bath 50 gallons2 gallons 100 gallons4 gallons 150 gallons6 gallons 200 gallons8 gallons Main Bath:Initial use (first 2 weeks) 4% T-HEXX Dragonhyde HBC plus 96% water. How to mix (main bath)

Maintenance Use (After the initial 2 weeks) Bath CapacityPre-Bath 50 gallons1 gallon 100 gallons2 gallons 150 gallons3 gallons 200 gallons4 gallons Pre-Bath:Use 2% of T-HEXX Dragonhyde HBC plus 98% water (example 1 gallon of T-HEXX Dragonhyde HBC plus 49 gallons of water). How to mix (pre-bath)

Bath CapacityMain Bath 50 gallons1 gallon 100 gallons2 gallons 150 gallons3 gallons 200 gallons4 gallons Main Bath:After the initial 2 weeks of use, decrease the amount used to 2% T-HEXX Dragonhyde HBC plus 98% water. Maintenance Use (After the initial 2 weeks) How to mix (main bath)

Usage Let cows walk through the bath.

DO NOT ALLOW CATTLE TO DRINK. Do not allow cattle to have free access to the hoof bath. Usage & Safety

If cows can reach through a fence or gate, block off the access to the bath. fencing Usage & Safety

Animals may be hesitant at first to walk through the bath because it is something new and they are curious. Some may try to run through, and splashing may occur. Usage & Safety

Usually after 3 bath runs, the cows settle down, walk slowly and splashing is then minimized. Usage & Safety

After the appropriate number of cows have walked through, or when the bath becomes discolored, discard the hoof bath and replace with a fresh solution. Discard in accordance with local laws. For additional safety and disposal information, see MSDS. Use and Disposal

To remove stains (on stainless steel, concrete, and latex), use 0.5% Sodium Hypochlorite (1 part household bleach plus 9 parts water). For other surfaces such as ceramic, use a 3% Hydrogen Peroxide solution. Cleaning

You can clearly see if a cow has walked through the bath with all 4 hooves. If an animal has a hoof issue, they may try to walk on the side of the bath, avoiding dipping the hoof into the solution. Other commonly used products have no indicator whether or not the animal walked through the bath properly. You can’t miss T-HEXX Dragonhyde HBC! Benefits

You are able to monitor where and/or if the product has splashed. Unlike formalin or copper sulfate where it does not show on the animal. Did you ever stop to think what formalin actually does to a teat? Benefits

If you are not careful, this product could be very messy. Use in accordance with the label, and it will minimize the waste. The product is non hazardous, but you still should always take proper precautions. Cons

Cons of Copper Sulfate Environmental hazard –Only a matter of time before the EPA places strict regulations on this product. Contaminates the manure pit Overloads soil, and destroys crop growth

Cons of Formalin/Formaldehyde Carcinogen Extremely hazardous to farm workers Known to cause genetic mutations Will burn the skin

Question:What do you like about Dragonhyde? Answer:Everything so far. Cows lay more in the stalls, cows milk out faster, somatic is lower, butter fat is higher because cows are more relaxed. Question: What changes (if any) have you seen in your herd? Answer: Hooves are hard but yet pliable and skin around the hoof is healthy and baby soft. Question: Is it easy to use? Answer:Yes water soluble. Question:Have you noticed any changes to the milk? Answer:Production wise no, quality yes. Feedback from a farmer in Valier, MT

Question:Have you noticed any changes to the milk? Answer:Production wise no, quality yes [better]. Question:What do you dislike about the product? Answer:Can be messy if you are not careful. Question:On a scale of 0-5 (0 meaning dislike, 5 meaning excellent product) where do you rank T-HEXX Dragonhyde HBC? Answer:5 is not good enough Feedback from a farmer in Valier, MT cont’d
