Living or Non Living? Sydney Duncan

Content Area: Science Grade level: Kindergarten Summary: The purpose of this power point is to teach children the difference between living and non living objects. Learning Objective: Given pictures of living and non living objects the students will be able to tell the difference between them with 100% accuracy. Standard: GLE Recognize that some things are living and some are not Information

Instructions In this lesson you will notice the differences between living and non living objects. For example a duck is living and an ice cream cone is non living.

Example Living Non Living Both

Answer The answer is living. A human boy is a living being. Now you give it a try

Is this tree living or non living? Non Living Non Living Neither

Correct! You got it right! This tree is a living object! A tree grows just like you! They also help to create the oxygen we breathe!

Is this rock living or non living? Living Both Non Living Non Living

Correct! You are right, a rock is a non living object! It doesn't do anything without the help of someone or something moving it.

Is this egg living or non living? Both Living Non Living Non Living

Correct! This one was a tricky one. An egg could be both living and non living. The eggs you buy at the grocery store are non living, while the ones that have baby animals in them are living!

Summary I hope you learned a lot about living and non living objects through this assignment. We explored that things can look non living and yet still be living, and that some things can have living aspects and non living aspects.

Incorrect Lets take a look at that question again, I know they can be tricky. Hit the return button and take another look.
