Institut Bellvitge

It’s a middle-sized school 335 students 40 teachers

Location It ‘s localet in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat It has inhabitants. It’s next to Barcelona. It’s the second biggest city of Catalonia, after Barcelona. It’s very close to the Llobregat river, to the sea and to the Barcelona airport.

Bellvitge The district of L’Hospitalet is called Bellvitge. Bellvitge is quite a new area. It was built in the 1960’s. Immigrants from the South of Spain came to live there.

People live in these tall blocks of flats. The area has improved a lot in recent years.

Our school Our school gets students from South America, Morocco, India, Pakistan and China. Eso is compulsory education. From 12 to 16 years old. BATXILLERAT is non compulsory. From 16 to 18 years old. In ESO, 32 per cent of students come from abroad.

What our school has got A welcome service classroom, which offers help to new students, with extra leesons in Catalan and Spanish. 2.It focuses on promoting the integration and cohesion of new students. 3.Mediation service, which tries to deal with conflicts and helps students sort our their differences through dialogue. 4.We also have a special unit (USEE) for students with special needs.

Our school offers Art studies. There are workshops in drawing, painting, and volume. Many students from towns around come there. Artistic exchanges have been made in the school that enable students to learn the art abroad.

School projects Cinema: a group of students shoot a short film, write the script, act and direct it. A professional from the film industry supervises their work. “Green School”: the Catalan autonomous government promotes environment issues in school.

Icarus Our most recent project is Icarus (Comenius) it’s a project we are very happy to be part of.
