The aim of this study is to present the dropout reasons, to prevent dropout and to give solutions.

The number of students who leave school each year is around in Turkey. So every year %30 of the new beginners leave the school. Dropout Problems in Turkey

This study dealt with reasons for dropout in vocational high schools. Dropout Problems in Turkey

Findings Reasons for dropout Individual based School based Family based Neighborhood based The Guidance Service tries to convince the students about returning the school. Dropout Problems in Turkey

Findings show that reasons for dropout can be divided into four categories as`individual, school, family, neighborhood based.  These factors are stated as absenteeism, intensive curriculum and grade repetition.  Some of them dropped out because of having some problems with school administration.  Another dropout reason is related to family based problems such as socio-economic status and low income.  The last dropout reason for female student is about her family’s mistrust of neighborhood.

Suggestions For Dropout

It can be influential in reducing the tendency of dropping out of school to give scholarship to the high school students with low income levels. Through adult educational programs, it can be achieved to make families show more interest in their children’s education and thus get rid of the idea of leaving school by informing families. Suggestions for Dropout In accordance with the research results;

Schools’ and teachers’ generalizing the guidance servicez that will show more interest in students will reduce the tendency of dropping out of school. With the aim of reducing the tendency to leave school, such preventive and intervening methods as academic achievement programs, attendance following applications, psychological consulting services, post-school social clubs, peer teaching, audacity education and alternative school programs can be carried out. It is suggested that researchers reach the students who dropped out of school and conduct the similar research in other regions to check the accuracy of these results. It is suggested that students can benefit from training shops in vocational schools by earning some money with their work. Suggestions for Dropout

According to the questionnaire, %44 of students dont register the school because of the traditional reasons. %25 of students have get socio-economic difficulties and %8 of students have family reasons. This is the questionaire about the reasons for not registering the school.

REASONS OF ABSENTEEISM (parents) 1.I think friend group of my child negatively effects his/her absenteeism. 66 – 48% 2. I think economical situation of the family negatively effects student`s absenteeism % 3. I think negative attitues of my child towards to the school cause his/her absenteeism % 4. THE NUMBERS OF DROPOUT STUDENTS IN OUR SCHOOL 75 students dropped out the school. 48 of them attended open high school classes.

Against the dropout, our guidance service always contact the students who have not completed vocational education programme and left school without a diploma to return the school. The solution methods for dropout In our school

 The chance of open high school classes. The students who have to work because of economical problems come to school between 6 pm. and 9 pm. in weekdays and between 8 am. and 5 am.at the weekends.  The aim of vocational schooling is to prepare well qualified human supplies for laber market.  It plays an important role in preparing young people for jobs, improving their abilities and meeting laber market needs.  Countries are well aware of the fact that better vocational schooling means better competition.
