Industry Trends Light vehicle production is notoriously cyclical, impacting suppliers of original equipment components. Many applications for onboard electric motors have reached high installation rates, but others still have room for growth. Automakers seek to increase comfort, convenience, and safety, to reduce fuel consumption, emissions, costs, and maintenance needs, and to differentiate vehicles. This creates opportunities for additional electric motors.

Industry Trends (Cont’d) Seeking to limit costs, automakers are reluctant to move to brushless motors, stepper motors, or mechatronics. Growth sectors are: Eelectric steering, electronic throttle control, electric vent flap actuators, and electric exhaust gas recirculation valves.
