opportunities through the use of technology. The Mission of the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) is to advance the individual capabilities of students; to motivate all students; and to create leadership opportunities through the use of technology.

Goals 1. The STLP will develop activities that enhance the academic, social and emotional growth of the student. 2. The STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students. 3. The STLP will experience multi-age collaboration by forming innovative learning partnerships. 4. The STLP will form learning partnerships between students with different technology skills. 5. The STLP will develop activities that benefit communities. 6. The STLP will develop instructional activities, which integrate technology and benefit the school and support the Kentucky Education Technology System (KETS).

Goal 1: The STLP will develop activities that enhance the academic, social and emotional growth of the student. Morning STLP group meets Monday and Friday mornings to work on group and individual projects using programs such as Word, PowerPoint, iWeb, Garageband, and iMovie. Students create web pages to showcase classroom learning. Students work in small groups to design and program a Mindstorm Robot to run a course. Students create Powerpoints to address specific topics in classroom.

Goal 2: The STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students. Students create Powerpoints to inform new students of school wide procedures. Students represented Briarwood at the Western Kentucky University’s Robotics Competition.

Goal 3: The STLP will experience multi-age collaboration by forming innovative learning partnerships. Morning STLP group consists of 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students who collaborate on various technology projects such as movies, digital music, digital art, and Powerpoints. Morning STLP is in the planning phase of a Briarwood STLP website to be launched, hopefully, later this spring.

Goal 4: The STLP will form learning partnerships between students with different technology skills. 6th grade Robotics Team assisted the 5th grade teams in preparing for the competition. Students use iPods for listening centers to enhance reading instruction.

Goal 5: The STLP will develop activities that benefit communities. Students collected canned goods to benefit the local community. Students conducted a coin drive to benefit Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and the local Family Enrichment Center. Students collected items needed to support our local humane society.

Goal 6: The STLP will develop instructional activities, which integrate technology and benefit the school and support the Kentucky Education Technology System (KETS). Students use iPods for listening centers to enhance reading instruction. Morning STLP group and other classrooms use a Mac cart to create projects using technology related to subject matter. Projects include Powerpoints, movies, music, and art.

Participation at Local/District Level Morning STLP group attended the Fall Showcase at Western Kentucky University. Morning STLP group attended the Kentucky Historical Marker Project GPS training.
