about The mission of the Cohasset Education Foundation is to work in partnership with our schools and the community at large to promote excellence in Cohasset’s public education. The Cohasset Education Foundation (CEF) was founded in 1992 and reinvigorated in The Cohasset Education Foundation is an independent, non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, financed completely through private funds, that works in close coordination with teachers and school administrators. The CEF will continue to provide the incremental resources for programs and materials that are not covered by the Cohasset School District’s operating budget. The CEF invests broadly in the following categories: 21 st century classroom, expansion of the core curriculum, after-school enrichment, college preparation and professional development. With the help of over 900 generous donors, the CEF has raised over $1.6 million in donations over the last eight years to promote excellence in the Cohasset public schools. The CEF fundraises through events such as the spring gala, the spelling bee and through its annual campaign. Contributions can be made to the Project Fund, which supports approved grant proposals, or to the Endowment Fund, a principal-preserved permanent fund. Undesignated gifts are divided equally between the two funds. Grant applications are submitted by teachers and administrators, reviewed by the CEF’s Grants Committee, and approved by the CEF Board. From , the CEF awarded sixty six grants which impact the education of every Cohasset student every week. The CEF has invested over $781,818 directly in the schools and has also built a principal-preserved endowment to ensure the long-term health of the Cohasset school district.
