PROBLEM STATEMENT The goal of our project is to promote engineering and inspire young students to become interested in Engineering. To do this, we are going to build an R2-D2 unit that has an array of features and can be used with students.

PROJECT BACKGROUND We choose to build R2-D2 because as young children we were all inspired by Star Wars. Star Wars is so recognizable by everyone so we figured R2-D2 is the perfect robot to build to inspire young children. We want an esthetically pleasing, functional R2-D2 since our predecessor did not complete their project.

MAJOR TECHNOLOGIES Web Cam Motor Controller Pivot Motor Laptop Integration Handheld Wireless Controller

INNOVATIVE AND CREATIVE ASPECTS OF OUR SOLUTION Primary Goals: Remotely Controlled Pivoting Head Electric Rotational Motor Movement Web Cam Streaming to our Computer Operation via Remote Control Aesthetically Pleasing Outer Hull

Secondary: Remotely Controlled Pivoting Arms Bluetooth Capability Speakers R2-D2 Soundboard

CHALLENGES AND UNCERTAINTIES Stream Robot’s vision to controller Precise Remote Control User Interface Advanced Robotics

EXPECTED OUTCOMES Functional Remote Controlled Robot Stream Video to User Realistic R2-D2 Design Interesting and Inspiring to Young Engineers

R2-D2 PLAN Step One: Build the Body Step Two: Get it Moving Step Three: Bells and Whistles

COMPONENTS Parts from previous effort Body Order Components Online Procure Blueprints Online

CONCLUSION Inexpensive to create Accurate aesthetics Interactive Educational Generate Interest
