Make Disciples

 Matthew 28:18-20 – “And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

 MATHETEUO – an imperative verb – a command  Contrasted with DIDASKO – teach, not clear in KJV  Making learning believers – much more than simple converts.

 John 8:31 – “So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, ‘If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine….’”  Keeping the word is important to discipleship

 Luke 14:26-33  “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple….”

 “Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.”

 “So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.”

 NO GIMMICKS!  2 Cor. 2:17 – “For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.”

 Mark 3:13 – “And He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him.”

 As He was going along by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.

 John 20:30-31 – Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God….
