What are steroids? Steroids are replacement hormones generally taken orally or injected. They are a class of natural and synthetic steroid hormones that promote cell growth and division, in medical text it is often refer as AAS. (Anabolic/ Androgenic STEROIDS) Steroids work by decreasing inflammation and reducing the activity of the immune system. Inflammation ( process in which the body's white blood cells and chemicals protect against infection and foreign substances; bacteria and viruses) some legitimate uses of Anabolic steroids : Andropause (gradual loss of testerone,often called Manopause) Menopause (lowering of estrogen) speeding the recovery in burn victims helping improve quality of life in Aids patients to helping fight breast cancer osteoporosis Recreational steriod users or the abusers of the drug are usually athletes and people trying to tone their bodies.They use systemic steroids.The drug circulates through the blood to various body sites.
