Risa Clay – Principal to Red Bank Regional High School RBR assistant principal and ELL supervisor Risa Clay was recently honored by Brookdale College at its 24 th annual Wilbur Ray Scholarship Dinner held on February 27, 2009 at Branches in West Long Branch. The dinner awards minority students with scholarships to Brookdale College in honor of long-time and devoted member of the Brookdale Community College Police force, Sergeant Wilbur Ray. It also honors individuals that have made a difference in the lives of minority students. Mrs. Clay received the Educational Service Award for creating the state recognized award-winning ELL (English Language Learners) program Puente al Futuro.Based on the Bill Gates model of making college a goal, the program provides access and support for ELL students to the Brookdale College Fast program where they can earn college credits during their senior year of high school. Upon graduation from high school, those students, who performed well in the FAST program and meet certain criteria, are then given financial assistance to attend college via the Andrew Kroon Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship has been managed and grown by Mrs. Clay. Over the past six years, 21 students have been able to attend Brookdale upon graduation from RBR. Additionally, the hope it inspires in the ELL students has eliminated the drop-out rate in this population from 11%, to 0. Risa Clay, a 16 year employee at RBR, also co-authored the grant for the SOURCE, RBR’s School Based Youth Services program, which removes barriers to students’ academic success.

Howard J. Lucks - Superintendent On October 25, Superintendent Dr. Howard Lucks regretfully tendered his resignation to the Red Bank Regional (RBR) Board of Education in order to support his wife, who is experiencing ongoing medical issues. However, he informed the Board that he would remain in his position until his replacement is functioning at RBR in order to ensure a smooth transition in leadership. The Board accepted his resignation and will soon commence a superintendent search for his replacement. Dr. Howard Lucks, who lives in Jackson, New Jersey, joined RBR in October of He replaced Dr. Edward Westervelt. Dr. Lucks came to RBR from the Franklin Township School. Dr. Lucks enjoyed a distinguished 37- year career in the New York City public school system where he won many accolades and was recognized for his educational leadership.
