 Work Experience 2014 Work Health Safety INDUCTION

Work Health Safety Laws  The Work Health Safety (WHS) laws require that employers provide a safe working environment. Each employer has a duty of care to ensure that you, the employee, is safe from injury or illness while at work.  Young people are more likely to be injured at work as they are often unfamiliar with workplace hazards and safety procedures. Young workers have one of the highest proportions of work related injury in the State and it is important that both you and your employer understand each others responsibilities to help keep you safe at work.

Injury Risks  The types of risks to which people are exposed in the workplace vary considerably according to the type of job they do and the industry in which they work.  The risks associated with different work environments are reflected in the rates and types of injuries across occupation and industry groups.
