the body’s ability to function efficiently and effectively.

Physical Fitness has many components. We are going to talk about 7 of them. Physical Fitness is associated with a person’s ability to work effectively, enjoy leisure time, be healthy, resist little activity and meet emergency situations.

the ability to supply fuel and oxygen to the muscles and the ability of the muscles to utilize fuel to allow sustained exercise.

What are some examples of Cardiovascular Fitness? A fit person can participate in physical activity for long periods of time without too much stress.

the ability to move the joints through their full range of motion.

Flexible!!! Yowww!! It pays to be flexible!! Inactivity causes stiffness in the muscles and joints. Stiffness causes bad body posture, back, shoulder and neck pain. Stretching can help ensure a normal range of motion.

The ability to transfer energy into force at a fast rate. Throwing a baseball is an example of power. So is throwing a shot-put.

In school you take the fitness test. Running the 50-Yard Dash is a test of power.

the ability to rapidly and accurately change direction of the entire body in space. Examples are: skiing, wrestling, and dancing.

I almost have you!! My dance steps have to be perfect for my lady!!! I can’t get you down!!

Balance is… the maintenance of stability while at a stop or while moving. Examples of balance: water skiing, balance beam, etc.

Yikes, I’m going to fall!! without balance a person can’t perform because they would fall over locomotor and nonlocomotor activities would be impossible you need balance before coordination balance is important for optimal performance in everything you do!!!

the ability of the muscles to exert an external force or to lift a heavy weight.

Here are some examples of muscular strength: rock climbing, basketball, skating…

the ability to perform a movement in a short period of time.

A runner on a track team or a wide receiver on a football team needs good foot and leg speed. A rower on a rowing team needs speed from the arms and legs.

I’m going to get there first!! No I am!!!!
