Many people are interested in traditional forms of Scottish dress. You can find the names of great clans all around the world. They are the McDonalds and the McKenzies, the Campbells and the Lindsays.

Originally, the tartan was worn as a single piece of cloth drawn in at the waist and thrown over the shoulder. Each clan has its own tartan. The wearing of tartans was common in the Highlands before the defeat by the English in 1745.

Kilt is a skirt with many folds worn by men as part of the national dress in Scotland.

Today many Scottish clans and families are represented with a particular tartan – some 200 years old, some 2 years old. Tartan is as much a part of Scottish tradition as anything else.
