Lacrosse All About Lacrosse By: Devin Hohenstein

This is a lacrosse stick. The stick is one of the most important pieces of equipment because you do every thing with it in lacrosse.

These are a pair of lacrosse cleats. You wear them on your feet. They have spikes on the bottom that make your dodges more sharp and are good for running on grass and turf.

This is a pair of lacrosse gloves. They protect your hands from getting hurt.

This is a lacrosse helmet. This protects your head from serious head injuries.

This is a chest protector/shoulder pads. This is a very important piece of equipment, it protects you from getting injured and your chest is the main target of all body checks.

This a pair of elbow pads. It covers most of your arm if not all of it. It is important to wear when you’re not allowed to body check because your opponent will focus on stick checking and if they miss they might hit your arm.

This is what it looks like when your wearing all of your equipment.

Now that you have just seen what the equipment looks like it is time to see the positions and the lacrosse field!

The first position I will share is Attack. (I play Attack.) Attack is played all the way down the field by the OTHER teams goalie. They mostly take the shots and chase after the ball when the ball misses the goal before it goes out of bounds. (White uniforms in the picture.)

The second position I will share is midfield. Midfield is played mostly in the middle of the field, that’s where it gets name, midfield. Three people play midfield on one team. The one in the middle does the face-offs to win the ball for there team. The other two are the right or left wing. The midfielders are allowed to go anywhere on the field.

The third position I will share is defense. Defense is the same in every sport. You try to prevent the other team from scoring. In this case the defense in lacrosse is to prevent the the other team from scoring a goal. Another line of defense is the one and only goalie! The goalie has the job of staying in the goal the whole game and blocking shots that come at them pretty fast. The goalie’s job is very scary.
