Livelihood Improved HDI Holistic Development Migration Culture and Values Health and Nutrition Education

Goal: To Enhance dignified income and employment options for ST families (trust on women sensitive livelihood) from X to Y BY 2020 through facilitated actions and convergence. Indicators : Average Income per Capita for STs, Man days of Employment in their own settings, Number of days of migration and persons migrating, Sources of additional income, Type and number of assets (farm and household), Resource enhancement in tribal region, Livelihood risk mitigation, Diversified income options, self employment and employability, complimentary income fro STs women

Livelihood Sectors for ST Communities 1.Land based livelihoods ( Agriculture, Livestock ) 2.Forest Resource based livelihoods ( CFRA, NTFPs) 3.Nonfarm Options ( new skilled based, traditional skilled based (Handicrafts), processing of produce and collective trading, individual / group enterprises, service provision through CRPs ) 4. Migration + Wage based livelihoods through government schemes + Reservations in jobs

Land Based Livelihoods ObjectivesInterventions To diversify and enhance agriculture income To improve water availability in ST areas To overcome technical, technological and mechanical problems in agriculture To promote climate smart agriculture technologies To support innovative interventions to address issues ( wild life attack)  Thrust on irrigation improvement, WRD and water use efficiency  High value, small plot agriculture with required technical and on field support  Promotion of horticulture, fodder etc with required technical and on field support  Provision of seed grant / working capital for groups /access to finance  Conservation and revival of ITK  Innovative use of FRA lands of individual beneficiaries ( Model)  Soil health cards /soil improvement actions  Introduction of livestock and scientific management ( Dairy, Goat, Poultry, Fishery, duckery, piggery )  Crop insurance, weather based crop advisory service, protected cultivation for climate resilience  Farm mechanization/ custom hiring centers  Formation and strengthening of farmer’s collectives for market linkages, aggregation, sale, processing, storage etc.  Agriculture related advance knowledge dissemination + partnerships ( With Technical institutes, expert NGOand private agencies )  Training and capacity building efforts for farmers

Forest Resource Based Livelihoods ObjectiveIntervention To enhance and optimize potential of forest resource to benefit ST families To focus on additional income through value addition / supply chain innovations to NTFPs  Village level resource mapping in cluster approach and Livelihood document  To form and strengthen community based groups for aggregation, value addition and marketing ( commodity specific end to end actions )  Procedural simplifications  Skill Training for Scientific Harvesting ( Lac/ Tasar, Honey, Gum, Bamboo, wild Fruits )  Arrangement of finance for groups  Post harvest storage/processing facilities /work sheds  Training /capacity building,technical hand holding, linkages and partnerships  Actions around management of CFRAs, Strengthening of water bodies for fisheries  MSPs /TDCs etc  Fodder promotion, fodder banks, fodder seed production etc  Wild life tourism involving youths, Eco-tourism innovative actions around forest fringed villages for STs
