Similarities and Differences Between Zefferelli and West Side Story West Side Story Both show the balcony scene. In both they get married. Romeo (Tony) is the one who runs to Juliet’s (Maria) balcony. Zefferelli Juliet’s nanny calls her back in the house. Romeo and Juliet officially get married by the church. In this version, there is a lot of lip action. No war consul. Romeo’s friends bothered Juliet’s nurse, lifting her skirt. Maria’s father calls her back in the house. Maria and Tony pretended they married each other. There is no lip action at all during the balcony scene. Got to a war consul, where the Jets were insulted by policemen. Maria doesn’t have a nurse, so no bothering.

Similarities and Differences Between Zefferelli and Lhurmann Older version. Make out in the balcony twice. Romeo’s friend don’t get mad because he went to see a girl. Younger version. Make out in the pool and then in the balcony. Romeo’s friends get mad at him because he ditches them again for a girl. ZefferelliLhurmann They both have characters with similar ages. Balcony scene. Nurse calls Juliet home. Same old- English dialogue. Takes place in Verona. Same marriage proposal Romeo and Juliet officially get married by Friar Lawrence. Characters have the same names. Nurse speaks with Romeo about Juliet.

Conclusion In conclusion we all liked the Zefferelli version for Romeo and Juliet because it gives an idea of what the play in those times would originally look like. It explains the idea Shakespeare had for his play. It is the most romantic and it is vey beautiful.
