Year 9 ELP Maths Autumn 1 - GCSE Functional Question Booklet This booklet has been produced to help with the functional questions in your exam. These are often labelled with an asterisk * and require you to use written English to explain the solution you have arrived at. They are worth anything from 4 up to 6 marks and require you to show all of your working out. At all times, you must make clear what it is that you are working out. E.g. it is not enough to just scatter calculations around the page and hope that the examiner can work out what you are doing. If you are working out train ticket prices then write “train ticket prices” next to the correct calculation. Contents Section 1 – includes hints and tips to help the students set out their work and gain marks. Money Problem Party Planning Comparing Prices Organising a trip Financing Section 2 – no hints and tips this time – a section has been left for you to write out your steps as if you were explaining it to someone else. Money Problem Party Planning Comparing Prices Organising a trip Financing Section 3 – exam style questions
