The Solar System. Volume I: The Sun, Mars and Saturn By Kavitha and Rowena

Introduction. The solar system is an amazing place. Although we have only found life on earth people have always dreamed of extra- terrestrial activity. The aliens in doctor who for example, are imaginary but that doesn’t mean there’s no life out there…

The Sun. The Sun is the biggest star in our solar system. The Sun was created in a vast cloud of gas and dust around 5 billion years ago. In approximately 5 billion years the sun will die, however it will take about 1 billion years to turn into a white dwarf. The planets in our solar system all orbit the sun

This is an exploding white dwarf!

Mars One Mars year is earth days long. One mars day, one rotation, is 24 hours and 37minutes long. Mars is 142 million miles from the sun! It has the largest mountain in the solar system, twice the height of Mount Everest! It also has the largest canyon, which is 2600 miles long!

This is Mars

Saturn One of Saturn’s years is 10,759.2 days long and one day is ten hours and fifteen minutes long! Saturn is the second largest planet after Jupiter. It is 888 million miles from the sun. Its rings are made out of rocks and ice in its orbit. Its core is 1,700 degrees Celsius!

This is Saturn And its rings

Now here are some pictures of amazing things that happen in space…

Thanks for watching!
