Objectives of the visit  To become familiar with ACIP (structure, meeting and voting process, evaluation of vaccines)  To learn about how CDC conducts surveillance of VPD in general  Meet experts, knowledge sharing and future cooperation  Learn about reporting system of vaccine preventable diseases (VPD), challenges, and how data is managed  Learn about performance metrics used by the CDC to assess the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the VPD surveillance IAIM Inaugural Conference, March 3 - 4, 2015, Istanbul, Turkey 3

Visit began with introduction to the following: All units under immunization& respiratory diseases division: Viral Bacterial Influenza Immunization services division Units under immunization services division: Vaccine supply and logistics branch Program operations branch Immunization information systems and support branch Education and information program branch IAIM Inaugural Conference, March 3 - 4, 2015, Istanbul, Turkey 4

ACIP two days meeting IAIM Inaugural Conference, March 3 - 4, 2015, Istanbul, Turkey 6

 Follow-up actions being taken in Saudi Arabia Started influenza vaccination program Planning to start influenza sentinel site surveillance And to establish National Influenza Center Planning to join Global Influenza Surveillance and Emergency Response System (GISRS) Arranged to start Rotavirus surveillance Arranged to strengthen IPD surveillance Arranged to do several studies (Polio, Hep B, Influenza) Planning for EVM and DQS IAIM Inaugural Conference, March 3 - 4, 2015, Istanbul, Turkey 7

Feedback on the P2P exchange: What went well? What could use improvement?  Challenges: 1.Accommodation: Down town, 40 min away f rom CDC 2. Security Access is very strict: access only to ACIP meeting building and immunization division building: As a result Couldn't visit other divisions e.g. respiratory lab & EIS Couldn’t extend my visit. People from CDC meet me at EMORY University instead of CDC.  Good Things: 1.Visit went smoothly, as planned, well organized 2.All teams were cooperative  Extra Benefit: 1.CDC arranged for me to attend WHO workshop one week later in Geneva about MR campaign planning 2. Invited me to attend ACIP meeting 25/26 Feb IAIM Inaugural Conference, March 3 - 4, 2015, Istanbul, Turkey 8
