KHADI YARN FAULTS

Pote Figure of the fault Definition Causes Remedy Undrafted and untwisted roving present in the yarn Broken gear tooth. Damaged cots of top roller. Insufficient pressure on the top roller. Proper maintenance. Buffing of cots.

Moree Figure of the fault Definition Causes Remedy Improperly joined broken ends. Improper piecing present in sliver or roving. Improper piecing by the charkha operator. Training to the operator about piecing and its importance.

Bakar Figure of the fault Definition Causes Remedy Trash (mainly seed coats) present in the yarn structure. Improper ginning i.e. seeds broken during ginning. Presence of too much trash in cotton fibre. Insufficient cleaning in blow room. Good ginning practice. Selection of proper cotton variety. Proper cleaning in blow room.

Over Twisted Yarn Figure of the fault Definition Causes Remedy Presence of excessive twist in yarn segments. Wrong selection of twist wheel. Wrong selection of spindle driving pulley. The yarn count has become coarser. Suitable action to overcome these difficulties.

Soft Twisted Yarn Figure of the fault Definition Causes Remedy It is the yarn portion having less twist than the normal. Wrong selection of twist wheel. Wrong selection of spindle driving pulley. Cord slippage on spindle wharve Select proper twist wheel. Check spindle slippage at regular intervals.

Daghi Figure of the fault Definition Causes Remedy Oil or stain marks present on the yarn. Over flowing of oil from spindle bolster. Excessive oil on ring with the intention of running the traveller smoothly. Improper storage of material. Improper material handling. Proper oiling and greasing. Proper material storage. Proper material handling

Slub Figure of the fault Definition Causes Remedy Thick places having length of 1 to 4 cm and about 5 to 8 times larger than the average yarn diameter at the thickest portion. Poor individualization of fibres at the card. Lack of adequate fibre control in the drafting region. Better opening and cleaning in blow room and card. Replace defective aprons. Adjust setting. Adjust top roller pressure. Excessive roving twist
