Warden Hill Infant SchoolYear 1Autumn Topic: Animals Art Tinga Tinga Art Identify the origins of Tinga Tinga Art and the different colours and shapes used. Design Technology Design a Pet House Design and make a home for a pet! To use a range of tools and equipment to perform practical tasks (cutting, shaping, joining and finishing) English Read and write stories, information and poetry related to animals. Children to talk about what they are going to write about before starting writing. Write simple sentences that include capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. Geography Finding out about animals from hot and cold climates and different habitats such as mountains or underwater. History Children to know when their birthday is. Changes in living memory related to the children’s own lives. To use words such as now, yesterday, a long time ago etc ICT E. Safety Multi media – using art software. Learning word processing skills. Using Digital Media – adding captions and sound. SEAL New Beginnings Getting on and Falling out Anti-Bullying Week Science Looking at Animals. Identifying, grouping and naming a variety of animals and describing their characteristics (movement, body parts) Recognising animals that are fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. Looking after Pets RE Different Faiths. They will learn about what being a Christian means. They will learn about what a Muslim believes. They will begin to understand some simple elements of the Jewish faith. They will find out that Hindus believe in 4 gods.
