Welcome to EBSCO Publishings Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre Basic Searching tutorial, a concise guide to searching the Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre database, including tips on how to make the most of EBSCOhost interface features.

Well begin by conducting a Basic Search on Sir Robert Menzies. You can view available limiters and expanders by clicking on Search Options.

Under the Search Options, it is easy to limit or expand your search results. You can choose from one of the available Search Modes and expanders as well as limiters that allow you to search by Full Text articles, Peer Reviewed Journals, or articles containing Image Quick View results.

If you misspell your keyword(s), the Spellchecker function will suggest alternate spellings. The Result List defaults to showing All Results, and can be filtered to display results by specific document type, such as AU/NZ Magazines, AU/NZ Newspapers, or Images.

You can print, , save, cite or export a single result from the detailed display when you click on a title link. To print, , save, cite or export multiple results, add them to the folder, then click the print, , save, cite, or export icon inside the folder. Folder contents can be saved by clicking on the Sign In to My EBSCOhost link, and then setting up a personalized (My EBSCOhost) folder account at no charge.

If Full Text is available in PDF format, it will open with Adobe Reader. You can print or save the full text using the icons on the Adobe toolbar. You can also the article or add it to the folder using the icons in the top right corner.

The Subjects authority file is a controlled vocabulary that assists in more effectively searching the database and is available by clicking on the Subjects link in the top tool bar. If you have multiple databases selected, you can select the database in which youd like to search for Subjects from a drop down menu.

For a specific subject, enter a term in the browse field and click Browse. Tick the box in front of the desired subject or subjects and click Search.

Click on the Publications Authority File button to search within any publication represented in the database.

You can select a publication from the alphabetized list shown, or enter a publication name in the Browse for field and click Browse. Tick the box in front of the desired publication and click Add. The publication is added to the Find field. You can add search terms in the Find field, and then click Search to view all articles containing your terms.

The Images/Video authority file enables users to search the Image Collection, Image Quick View Collection and the Video Encyclopedia of the 20 th Century. Click the Images/Video link in the top toolbar to access the Images/Video search screen.

Simply enter your terms in the Find field and tick the box or boxes of the image types you would like to search for. Click Search and a result list containing your images will be displayed.
