MW-SDH IDU Standard PDH 1+0 Configuration

SDH 1+0 Configuration Part number: IDU-SO (STM-1 Optical, 1+0) or IDU-SW (STM-1 Electrical, 1+0) –Consists of –Chassis, Backplane –5 modules CCM-4800: Power Supply Module CCM-4500: Controller Module CCM-4100: Standard I/O Module CCM-4600: Modem and IF/Telemetry Module CCM-4155 or -4156: STM-1 Optical or Electrical Mini IO Module

SDH 1+0 Configuration SDH 1+0 Capability: IDU-SO (STM-1 Optical, 1+0) or IDU-SW (STM-1 Electrical, 1+0) Dependent on available bandwidth: can adjust for operating bandwidth –Payload Options (hardware is always available in unit) 100BaseTX Ethernet: scalable (from 1 – 100 Mbps) 1-16 x E1/T1: 2 x E1 (RJ-48C), 14xE1 (Molex 60-pin high density) STM-1 Optical or Electrical Skyway’s “Mode Configurator” tool to create any combination (assuming available bandwidth) –Examples include STM Mbps scaled Fast Ethernet STM E1 Other combinations that allow operation in 28/30 MHz bandwidth

2+0 or East/West Configuration Consecutive point architecture achieved with only a single 1 RU chassis at each location In this configuration the IDU contains 2 Power Supply Modules and 2 Modem/IF Modules One Modem/IF is referred to as the west modem and the other as the east modem The IDU is connected to two ODUs, one broadcasting/receiving in one directing of the ring architecture and the other broadcasting/receiving in the other direction

This configuration provides individual link protection as well as the full-scale protection inherent in the consecutive point architecture At each location within the network, data may be dropped or inserted Front panel connections for drop/insert capability are provided In this configuration each IDU contains 2 Power Supply Modules and 2 Modem/IF Modules Multi-hop Repeater with D/I Config

1+1 Protection: Diversity Diversity mode: the link between each pair of modems is the same, providing complete redundancy This arrangement requires bandwidth for both links and non- interference between the links, but it provides hitless receive and transmit switching –The IDU supports both frequency and spatial diversity –Frequency diversity: two frequencies are used –Spatial diversity: two non-interfering paths are used In either case, the proprietary framer chooses the best, or error-free, data stream and forwards it to the Line Interface Units (LIUs)

1+1 Protection: Non-Diversity Non-diversity mode: One ODU at each location transmits to both two ODUs at the other location Does not require the extra bandwidth or interference protection of diversity mode Provides hitless receive switching and hot standby IDU automatically switches transmit ODU upon appropriate ODU alarm or ODU interface error, minimizing transmit outage time The power supply, ODU, IF/telemetry and modem are protected The digital framing and LUIs are not

E1/T1 Cross-Connect Switch Provides any-to-any connection between –Front-panel E1/T1 ports (16 or 32) –STM-1 payload (63xE1 or 84xT1) –East Radio Link (63xE1 or 84xT1) –West Radio Link (63xE1 or 84xT1) Mapping configurations may be developed in Excel and uploaded to the IDU. –Mappings are selected on the IDU via a drop-down box. –Up to 32 pre-defined (via Excel) mappings may be specified –A custom mapping can be edited directly on the IDU

STM-1 Multiplex/Path Terminating Mux/Demux 63xE1 84xT1 –E1/T1 Cross-Connect Switch –Any-to-Any connection of E1/T1 signals –1+0/1+1 operation –Up to 63xE1or 84xT1 over-the-air 2+0 operation Up to 126xE1 or 168xT1 over-the- air STM-1 MUX/DEMUX

The IDU cross point switch provides any-to-any E1/T1 routing between the front-panel ports, east and west RF links. Flexible channel mapping allows pointand- click selection of predefined routings or custom routing. Custom routing selections may be uploaded to the IDU via FTP. 16/32 E1 Crosspoint Capability

The IDU STM-1 Mux/Demux provides capability to demultiplex 63xE1 (84xT1) PDH signals from the SDH signal. The demultiplexed E1/T1s are routed via the crosspoint switch to east, west, or frontpanel. Enhanced IO (CCM-4120) Module is required for this function Scalable SDH STM-1 Mux/Demux Capability
