Results of Supporting Manga Students characterized themselves as avid readers. They used literary elements to support their positions in a group discussion. They frequent the library & read constantly. Are by all measures engaged & avid readers.

Manga Iniatives: GNC Mandate: –to support and nurture lifelong reading GNC: Graphic Novel Book Club –Meet every Friday at lunch –20 – 30 students –Bring their lunch –Activities organized by the students

Initiatives: You want me to write? …No thanks. Book talks by the students amongst themselves occur daily –To discuss a great read –To assist a peer in selecting the next read … but how to get them to write down their thoughts…

GNC student initiative was to give Book Talks –Students were instructed to select a favourite series, but not a popular one everyone already knew e.g. not Naruto –Take turns presenting their book –Students were to stand while presenting Why should someone read this book?
