Two main types of training On the Job Off the job What do they mean?

On the Job Training Workers are trained IN the workplace whilst job is being done. By watching another worker or mentoring. Adv – Less disruption to production whilst easily organized. Disadv – Can cause mistakes and stress to other workers.

Off the job training Training takes place away from the workplace. A college or training centre. Adv – Does not affect output and can take place outside of working hours. Disdav – Can be expensive and does not contribute to output.

Government Training Schemes Apprenticeships – Available for 16yos, person can work alongside skilled workers on a wage learning new skills. NVQ – National Vocational Qualification – A qualification achieved through work based learning.
