Data are represented by natural geographies, drainage basins, ecozones, ecoregions and by province

January OLA Super Conference 2009 S.Giles, D.Jakubek Ryerson University Ecozones and Ecoregions Ecozones - An ecozone is an area that represents a single, large ecosystem. Like biomes, ecozones are unique in terms of plants, wildlife, climate, geology, and human activities. Unlike biomes, ecozones have specific locations on the earth's surface. Canada has 20 ecozones: 15 terrestrial (land) and 5 marine (ocean). Ecoregions -Each ecozone in Canada is divided into several ecoregions. These ecoregions represent smaller, distinct ecosystems which share similar characteristics. Canada has 217 terrestrial (land) ecoregions.
