City of Malmö Easy access to voting makes the election more available - and even more fun.

Malmö today inhabitants 174 nationalities, many of which come from non democratic countries have the vote!

Historically Many areas of the city have a very low participation rate.

Previously the postoffice, but since 2006 Local Governments (Election Committees) in Sweden have been responsible for early voting.

A complete new profile Students at the Malmö University were given the task of making new graphics and created the slogan; ”Raise your voice!”

Rap artist gets the message across One of Sweden’s most famous rap artists made a popular rap song on the importance of democracy.

Vote and shop at the same time! 24 locations for early voting,10 of which are in shopping malls, with especially designed booths.

Immigrants meet immigrants! Immigrants and ethnic Swedes encourage voting all over the city. Advantage: discussions on democracy to be held in many different languages !

Efforts on marketing activities -Adverts in cinemas - Information in 6 languages - Outdoor posters - Talks on democracy

Result pre voted + 2% in the total result After many years of decline an upward swing !

EU election The same thing happens… + 8% of Malmö citizens choose to vote

National election young people becoming 18 years of age - possible first time voters. The importance of getting young people into the habit of voting.

Democracy Ambassadors Hired to work with 18 year olds and immigrants

National election result in Malmö + 2,07% general + 4,4% first time voters people wanted to pre vote – mainly in the shopping malls

the super year of elections! Both EU and national elections within 3 months! We will work on new challenges !
