High School Checklist  Get organized and set goals. Plan to excel in all classes; GPA starts with 9 th grade coursework.  Sign up for at least one Pre-AP Course  Be involved! Join at least one club or organization on campus.  Participate in at least one extracurricular activity. This can be focused on academics, fine arts and/or athletics.

Endorsements – Statutory Requirements 26 Credits A student may earn an endorsement by successfully completing (26 credits): curriculum requirements for the endorsement 4 credits in math 4 credits in science 4 additional elective credits

Arts & Humanities An Arts and Humanities endorsement is only available through a Non-Career and Technical Education pathway. To satisfy the Non-CTE path in the endorsement, students must select: A.5 total credits in Social studies and/or economics: OR B.4 levels of the same Language Other than English (LOTE) OR C.2 levels in one LOTE AND 2 levels in a different LOTE; OR D.a coherent sequence of 4 credits from the same discipline in Fine Arts; E.a coherent sequence of 4 credits from two disciplines in Fine Arts

Business & Industry A.To satisfy the Non-CTE path in the Business and Industry Endorsement, students must select four “elective” credits in English Language Arts (ELA). Within those four credits, students must select at least three levels in Broadcast, Debate, Newspaper, Yearbook, and Public Speaking. B.To satisfy the CTE path in the Business and Industry Endorsement, students must select a coherent sequence of four credits in CTE that consists of at least two courses in the same cluster, including at least one “advanced” CTE course. The final course in the sequence must be obtained from one of the following clusters: – Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources – Architecture and Construction – Arts, A/V Technology and Communication – Business Management and Administration – Financial Systems – Hospitality and Tourism – Information Technology – Marketing, Sales and Services – Sports & Entertainment Management

Multidisciplinary Studies To satisfy the Non-CTE path in the Multidisciplinary Endorsement, students must select four credits in: A.Each of the four foundation subject areas to include English IV and Chemistry and/or Physics OR B.Advanced Placement or Dual Credit courses from the areas listed below: – English – Math – Science – Social Studies – Economics – Languages Other Than English (LOTE) – Fine Arts To satisfy the CTE path in the Multidisciplinary Endorsement, students must select four “advanced” CTE courses from one or multiple endorsement areas.

Public Services At this time, FISD does not offer a non-career & technical option in this category. To satisfy the CTE path in the Public Services Endorsement, students must select a coherent sequence of four credits in CTE that consists of at least two courses in the same cluster, including at least one “advanced” CTE course. The final course in the sequence must be obtained from one of the following clusters: Education & Training Government & Public Administration Law, Public Safety, Security & Corrections Health Sciences

STEM To satisfy the Non-CTE path in the STEM Endorsement, students must select a number of credits from one of the following options: – Four Credits in a coherent sequence of Computer Science Courses OR – Five Credits in Math – 2 “Foundation” Math credits, Algebra II and two additional credits in Mathematics courses for which Algebra 2 is a prerequisite OR – Five Credits in Science – Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and two additional credits in Science (cannot include Integrated Physics/Chemistry (IPC)) OR – In addition to Algebra 2, Chemistry, and Physics, a coherent sequence of three additional credits from no more than two from the STEM, computer science, math, and science disciplines Students who choose this endorsement MUST complete: Algebra 2 Chemistry Physics + +

To satisfy the CTE path in the STEM Endorsement, students must select a coherent sequence of four credits in CTE that consists of at least two courses in the same cluster, including at least one “advanced” CTE course. The final course in the sequence must be obtained from one of the following clusters: Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math STEM

Distinguished Level of Achievement A student may earn a distinguished level of achievement by successfully completing: A total of 4 credits in math, which must include Algebra II A total of 4 credits in science The remaining curriculum requirements The curriculum requirements for at least one endorsement A student must earn distinguished level of achievement to be eligible for top 10% automatic admission.

Performance Acknowledgements For outstanding performance in a dual credit course in bilingualism and biliteracy on an AP test on the PSAT, the SAT, or the ACT For earning a nationally or internationally recognized business or industry certification or license A student may earn a performance acknowledgement:

Reading your Schedule Marking Periods = Six Weeks (M1 = fall, M4 = spring) Lunches will be based on 3 rd period classes. This information will be given the first day of school.

Problems with Your Schedule? Does everyone have – – English – Math – Science – Social Studies – 8 Periods You may pick up a schedule change form from the counseling center. Only level and program changes allowed.

“Where do I go on the first day of school?” Students should report to the cafeteria. The bell to dismiss for first period will ring at 8:50 a.m. There will be no schedule changes the first two days of school.
