Mine Gases What am I?

What Am I? I am found in high places. I am odorless I am tasteless I am colorless I am extremely explosive I have a SG of I am Hydrogen

What am I? I am found everywhere (not hi or low) I am an asphyxiant in concentrations I am colorless I am odorless I am tasteless I am slightly water soluble My SG is I make up 78% of our atmosphere I am Nitrogen

What am I? I am odorless I am found near roofs and backs I am tasteless I am colorless I am somewhat water soluble I am responsible for many, many miners deaths I will explode when concentrated between 5% and 15% I am Methane

What Am I? I am water soluble I am found everywhere (not hi or low) I am odorless, colorless and tasteless I am used in industry and medicine My SG is I keep fires burning Without me you die! I am Oxygen

What am I? I have no color or taste I prefer to stay low in mine air I smell of petroleum I am used in industry and at home I assist you feeding your family many weekends I am explosive between 2% and 9% My SG is I am Propane

What am I? I am colorless and tasteless I smell pretty nasty I am slightly lighter than mine air I am highly explosive I am one of the most used gasses in industry My SG is I am Acetylene

What am I? I am told I taste sweet I am very explosive I am water soluble I will kill you rapidly when concentrated I have no color I smell rotten My SG is 1.19 I will explode between 4% and 45% I am Hydrogen Sulfide

What am I? I don’t smell I have no taste or color I am explosive I am found everywhere in a mine (not hi or low) Your blood likes me 300 times more than Oxygen I will kill you and your whole family I am a product of incomplete combustion My explosive range is 12.5% to 74% My SG is I am Carbon Monoxide

What am I? I am reddish brown in color I smell of fumes I will kill you and your fellow miners I am not explosive I am found waist level and lower in mines I am a product of blasting and diesel engines My SG is 1.59 I am Nitrogen Dioxide

What am I? I have no color I will kill miners when they breath me I taste acidic I like to dissolve myself in water and come out when stirred up I smell like a match I tend to stay very low in the mine air My SG is I am Sulfur Dioxide

What am I? I am odorless and colorless I am told I taste acidic in high concentrations I have killed many miners I like to stay low in mine air I am a product of complete combustion I am inherent in some rock strata I am given off by old timber I am a product of oxidation Breathing me a little will increase your breathing rate Breathing more of me will make you pant My SG is I am Carbon Dioxide
