 PDAS remains in place as the State of Texas’s approved instrument for appraising its teachers and identifying areas that would benefit from staff development.  Cornerstones of the process include a minimum of one 45-minute observation and completion of the Teacher Self-Report Form.  PDAS includes 51 criteria within eight domains reflecting the Proficiencies for Learner-Centered Instruction adopted in 1997 by the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC).

 Testing Dates as applicable:  February 29, 2016 through March 3, 2016  April 19, 2016 through April 22, 2016  May 2, 2016 through May 13, 2016

 Section I  The Teacher Self-Report Form shall be presented to the principal: Within the first three weeks from the day of completion of the PDAS orientation: Within the first three weeks from the day of completion of the PDAS orientation, for teachers new to the PDAS; or Within the first three weeks of instruction in the school years when the PDAS orientation is required. Login to Eduphoria PDAS to complete the Teacher Self Report Part I. Teacher Self-Report is due August 17, 2015.

 Section II and III  Revision of Section I, if necessary, and completion of Sections II and III of the Teacher Self-Report Form shall be presented to the principal at least two weeks before the summative annual conference.  Login to Eduphoria PDAS to complete Teacher Self-Report Parts II and III.  All teachers, including teachers who are eligible for a waiver, must turn in Teacher Self- Reports Parts II and III to their campus principal no later than April  Print and a copy and submit to your PDAS evaluator.

 A written summative annual appraisal report shall be shared with the teacher no later than 5 working days before the summative conference and no later than 15 working days before the last day of instruction for the end of the appraisal period.  No later than April 29, 2016

 Unless waived in writing by the teacher, a summative conference shall be held within a time frame specified on the District calendar and no later than 15 working days before the last day of instruction for students.  The summative conference shall focus on the written summative report and related data sources.  If the appraiser is not an administrator on the teacher’s campus, the principal, assistant principal, or another supervisory staff member designated as an administrator on the campus will participate in the summative annual conference.  No later than May 6, 2016

 Teachers with social security numbers ending in 0, 1, 2, and 3 will be evaluated using the PDAS Appraisal System.  As per DNA LOCAL, the requirements for an employee to be appraised annually may be waived if the employee meets the following criteria: 1. The employee is on a term contract; 2. The employee is evaluated by the PDAS; 3. The employee is rated at least “proficient” in all domains and criteria; 4. The employee is not new to the campus or building’ 5. The employee has completed three consecutive years of service in the District; and 6. The employee agrees in writing.

 Waivers shall be distributed to all eligible teachers by August 17,  The deadline for submitting Waiver Agreements is August 31, 2015.

 Teachers who will be evaluated this year and are NOT eligible for a waiver have a social security number that ends in 0, 1, 2, or 3.  All returning teachers will take the on-line PDAS Annual Review provided by Responsive Learning.  A PowerPoint for the refresher will NOT be sent out this year.  All new teachers will either receive their PDAS training through the BFF New Teacher Induction Program or through the on-line 6 hour PDAS Observation Course.  This system requires that a new profile be created every year.
