Functional Maths Skills Online Activities Northern College

Entry Level 3 Working with Measures, Shape and Space Activities can be done individually, in pairs, in small groups, or as a teacher led activity involving group discussion Activities involve functional decision making Learners must estimate weights and lengths of everyday objects using metric units measures – weight measures - length

Entry Level 3 Working with information from lists, charts, tables and graphs Matching activity which involves interpreting given information Learners need to match bar charts with scales and tables of data Paris or Malaga

Level 1 Working with Whole Numbers, Fractions, Decimals and Percentages Teacher led activity Key aim is to help develop learners’ problem solving skills by thinking through a logical order to perform calculations Water problem

Level 1 Using Simple Ratio and Proportion Activity looks at how the dimensions of a scaled drawing relate to the actual dimensions by means of a simple scale Matching activity asks learners to match a garden of given dimensions with possible scale plans Garden Scales

Level 1 Working with Measures, Shape and Space Good example of an open scheduling task – common exam type question Learners have to work out possible holiday times based on given criteria Holiday rota
