Optical Color Mix – small areas of color placed next to each other that blend optically when viewed from a distance.

POST-IMPRESSIONISM - Seurat Optical color mix originated with Post-Impressionist artist Georges Seurat in the 1800’s. Seurat used tiny dots of color on the wall- size painting allowing the viewer’s eye to mix the colors when seen from a distance.

CHUCK CLOSE

Self-Portrait of Chuck Close late 1960’s – early 1970’s - Photo-realism - style of art that is created to look just like a photo.

Problem creation is more interesting than problem solving. Making art impacts my vision of the world. Real artists don’t wait for inspiration; they just go in everyday and work, work, work. Learning and physical disabilities make people more interesting and resilient and strong. After seeing my first Pollock, I was outraged but immediately started dripping on my works.

Other notes Influenced by artists Willem de Kooning and Jackson Pollock Grid method originated in Egypt to make drawings larger. Works show optical color mix.
