Sec 3 JC 1 Workshop 18 March 2013 (Monday) 8.30 am to 5.30pm Nanyang Junior College

? Work to create a self-portrait from observation to reflect your response to the question of “Who Am I?” - Think of how your final work will look like. Make thumbnail sketches of your ideas in colour. Annotate to remind yourself how your identity can be represented symbolically in the work. You can incorporate elements from your personal tree or other items that you deemed suitable. Keep these sketches and we will use them to discuss your actual painting. - We will work on these portraits for two weeks (17 & 24 Jan)

Alternative Portraits For your next Studio Task, conceptualize an alternative portrait about how your ‘self’ can be represented with a purposeful manipulation of material(s)/technique. You must be able to state your intentions and influences that shaped your work. Only requirement: A3 size Share your ideas on Thursday, 7 Feb

Chuck Close Phil/Fingerprint 2009 Screenprint in 25 colors Paper Size: 56 x 44 inches Image Size: 46 x 34 inches Demonstrated that a very traditional art form -- portrait painting, could be resurrected as a challenging form of contemporary expression.
