Ramadan and Eid celebration Happy Eid Arbour Vale School

Preparation before you go to the mosque (Wudu) Hygiene routine

Ramadan is the ninth month of Islamic calendar. It begins after the sighting of the new moon. What is Ramadan?

Why do Muslim Fast? To feel compassion and true Sympathy for the poor and underprivileged. It also builds sense of self control and to purify the body and soul. It also teaches you the value of the food which is often taken for granted. (Arbour vale children worked on their behaviour by doing their own target sheets every day)

At what time can Muslim eat during the month of Ramadan? Before dawn and after sunset. Dawn is about two hours before sunrises, during which they need to eat and pray.

Who should fast? It's not easy to fast, So young children, elderly people, pregnant women and people who are sick don’t have to,until they are older or feeling stronger. Everyone else tries to make the effort.

How we can help people around the world? Feeling hungry and thirsty also helps them to understand what it is like for people in the world who do not have enough to eat or drink all the time, and so they set aside money to give to the poor. The amount they set aside equals the cost of meal for each person in the family, so if they are five people in the family, they will give away the cost of a meal for five people.

When to celebrate Eid? At the end of month they have a party to celebrate. Its called the festival of breaking the fast(Eid-ul-fitr)and it’s a time of great happiness and thanksgiving to God.

Reflection Reflection Say your own quiet prayers of thanks for having enough food to eat and safe, clean water to drink.

Little message to all Respect every ones believe Never criticise any ones faiths. Integrate as much you can Thank you so much for watching and listening. Happy Eid to all of you From Jamil Mahmood Multicultural Mentor We are proud to be part of a Multicultural Society.
