Composition Broadway Boogie-Woogie Museum of Modern Art New York City This represents the city grid of Manhattan and the boogie woogie music which he loved to dance to.  He was born in Netherlands and started by painting Dutch landscapes.  He was a head teacher at an elementary school.  He moved to Paris in 1911 he was influenced by Picasso and cubist  He began grid based paintings in 1919  He eventually moved to London and finally New York City  He is considered the founder of Modern Art  He believed painting is composed of color and line, these elements must set an example with other forms of art in society in order to gain success.  He represents in his work the ideas of unity and universal beauty.  He focused on the use of primary colors

Be Inspired by Mondrian Now it is your turn to create a Mondrian inspired piece. Remember to title your art and write your name on your artwork! We will use squares, rectangles and straight lines in primary colors (red, yellow and blue) as well as white and black for our pieces. Once you have planned out your design we can start to glue the pieces down. It is ok if they overlap and remember with glue “A DOT IS A LOT.”
