Page 3 School and education have always been the engine of society progress, contributing to the quality of life, creating new fields of work and innovations. Using modern technology in schools is part of the natural evolution of learning and it is a natural solution to the challenges arising from modern expectations and needs of students, especially in the technical field. Integration of information means in the traditional teaching-learning process, allow a better evaluation of teaching methods, traditional or modern, better communication between the actors of the educational process and a considerable improvement in student achievement.

Page 4 1.It facilitates communication New information technologies have transformed the way communication between human beings was, simplifying and improving the relationship between people. Teaching – learning process allows collaborative work by electronic mail communication with it or talk groups on educational themes between its students or between teachers and students. The virtual learning method allows students to take part in the educational process at a convenient time and place. Students from different countries can find a virtual community on a particular area of interest, regardless the place, age, intellectual capacity, social status, etc. Advantages of using IT tools in teaching technical subjects are:

Page 5 2. Facilitates and stimulates the teaching-learning process Teaching technical subjects can be dynamized using hardware and software technologies, that helps the teacher to explain better and students to understand more deeply the phenomena.  Smart boards that realize the normal function of the board and the projector  Specialized educational software (for technical drawing)  Internet connection for accessing certain information, projector

Page 6 3. Attractiveness rise for school subject By using a video support (watching a movie with future technologies or new energy sources), the students will pay attention to the subject, increasing the perceptiveness and interactivity. Focus will be on retention of information and training skills.

Page 7 4. The students are more involved in the educational process by developing complementary skills such as computer skills or the new information technology, presenting a lesson, making a lesson project, collaborating with colleagues. Students will be active during the lessons and can ask questions about the phenomena explained.

Page 8 5. It makes the transition from lessons centered on the transfer of knowledge to lessons focused on developing skills and abilities. Very effective is a project-based teaching model, student-centered, that develops knowledge and skills, promotes investigation and demonstration.

Page 9 6. Efficient management of educational resources Teaching technical subjects with informatics ways is more effective when using resources remotely distributed. Virtual libraries made, available to the people interested in technical journals, illustrations, books, charts, images, three-dimensional models (3D), animations, reference documents, but also specific information such as guides for curriculum development, analytics courses programs and teaching activities.

Page 10 Activities that can be made by the professor for the improvement of the teaching-learning process of technical disciplines are:  Showing of some elements of the lesson with programs such Open Office Impress or Microsoft PowerPoint  Use of images or videos to introduce students to parts of the lesson  Access Google Earth to view the power plant "Portile de Fier"  Use by students of thematic sites, like Wikipedia  Accessing audio files for explaining ways of producing electricity  Using a “blog” to receive comments and questions from the students and to display additional materials, brief summaries of lessons, exercises, homework, links to resources.

Page 11 The use of technology in modern day teaching is very important for the students because it helps them to survive in this complex and knowledgeable world. Also it helps them to acquire skills and will aid in the understanding process.
